Rome with DC 9 & 11

I'm off to Rome in April with DH and DC aged 9 and 11. I know of all the obvious sites, but I'm a bit overwhelmed by what I need to prebook and what I don't... also whether any of the tours/guides are worth it (we do want to see everything and understand what we are seeing, but DC11 in particular has the attention span of a gnat!). We've got four full days. Thanks in advance!

Have a look at this site, lots of suggestions and even itineraries for 3 or 5 days. I followed the 3 days one and it was great!

We did Rome with similar age DC.

Booked with this company some private sightseeing.... got our own guide, they did contact us a few weeks before to find out what kids interested in...

Also a big hit was the Capuchin Crypt - it's macabre but DC were equally afraid and amazed!

The Coliseum/Forum tour was good and really brought it to life.
The Vatican/Sistine Chapel tour was good because it helped us skip through the unnecessary stuff otherwise we could have got stuck in the Vatican museum for weeks.

If you can get there don’t miss St Paul’s outside the walls.
