dinosaur isle and blackgang chine. also the needles.

bootsmonkey · 15/03/2008 15:08

Blackgang Chine, Robin Hill, Dinosaur Museum @ Sandown, Colemans Farm, Chairlift at the Needles (for the brave!). Get the Island Visitor Mag on the ferry over - loads of ideas and places to go there. Would avoid Amazon World unless you enjoy seeing cramped sad looking animals.... My DD loves Flamingo World. They are all quite pricey though and walking on the beautiful beaches is free!!

Godshill Model Village is cute

I would also recommend a stroll round the Botanic Gardens (Ventnor). I'm pretty sure there are some swings etc. on the far side.

The Spyglass Inn in ventnor has great views and great food. There are are great beaches too and fantastic beach at Ryde and a little fairground.

Ooh there is isle of wight steam railway too - how old are your kids? Out of season it is only open on certain days so you would need to check. Isle of Wight steam railway

Some of the attractions might not be open yet, but I definitely agree that a visit to The Spyglass in Ventnor is a must. Shanklin and Sandown are also very nice, old-fashioned resorts. West Cowes is also worth a looksie.

It will be raining tomorrow, but Monday and Tuesday are looking good.

Book a guided walk with the Dinosaur Museum. It's 2 hours walking on the beach collecting fossils and dinosaur bones with an expert. Fascinating. You pick up any old boring stone off the beach and he tells you how many millions of years old it is.
