We are gouing to Florida next week,it was a bit of a quick decision ast year and we are really tied to dates as ds2 is at a specialist schoo where we really cannot take him out in term time and I work at the other twos school (big no no for staff taking kids out)plus their holidays only oiverlap for two weeks
We have villa with pool in oak Island Harbour ,we know it will be very busy and have warned the dcs but please reassure us that it won't be a disaster, have just read earlier post on here saying avoid like the plague

Well I checked the spring break dates as we were going to go at Easter but they're mostly in March.
Is your hol in April like lots of schools or actually at easter?

LyraSilvertongue · 13/03/2008 20:46

Doh, you said next week. You may catch the busiest week of spring break. Google it for the dates.

floaty · 13/03/2008 20:52

Well we are going anyway its all booked now I think that if I google the dates and they are not in our favour I will just worry even more. The whole holiday seems jinxed,it was meant to be a bit of a surprise treatespecially for DS1 and 2 who both chaged schools and had a tough term last term but dh has been working really silly hours for the last 4 months getting even sillier now ,he is surviving on abour 3 hours sleep a night, due to Gordon Browns tax changes (he is lawyer) and is just nt here to help,he may even have to meet us at airport straight from work nad spends most of his time telling me he is going to have to work when we are over there and how inconvennient it is,two of his colleagues having cancelled their holidays.Sorry rant over but just keep thinking it is allgoing to be a disaster

Even if it is busy, the main thing is you'll all be together, in the sunshine, doing fun things, eating out together. How can you fail to have a good time?

LyraSilvertongue · 13/03/2008 21:05

What day are you going?

LyraSilvertongue · 13/03/2008 21:06

Spring break finishes next Friday (21st) so you may only catch a few days of it.

floaty · 13/03/2008 21:06

Of course your right ,I am just such a worrier ,have to say though I can't wait for the sunshine

There you go then, the worst will be over by the time you get there

Earlybird · 13/03/2008 21:14

Which bit about crowds worries you? Restaurants, Disneyworld, other resorts, general too-many-people?

floaty · 13/03/2008 22:29

I think it just worries me that it will be so crowded that we w'y be able to enjo orselves or that we will spend hours in traffic jams

Glad to be of service. Have a great time.

We got back from Florida last week - it was busy the first week we were there (Presidents week) but very quiet the second week and we easily got round all the parks with minimal queuing. We also made it over to clearwater beach (hour away) and also down to the Everglades and Miami (4 hours away) so the roads were not too busy at all.

The weather was a bit iffy though but will probably be lovely by the time you go next week. Have a fab time!!

I have been a number of times and was last there in Feb 08. They are more prepared than ever for crowds and have introduced the fast passes and notice boards telling you which rides have short wait times which are updated electronically.

For magic kingdom go to the back of the park first and do the younger rides as by the afternoon the lines will be big.

My kids got to go on many of the rides twice without waiting at the beginning of the day.It usually opens 10 mins before the official time.

Any kids 6 and under hire a stroller you can walk so much faster around the park. You could purchase the number of days you need it for in one go then you wont have to queue on other days.

You will still have a great time just go with the flow and what you feel like doing as a family.
