I have 2 hours to hang about in Paris near Gare du Nord. where should I go to do some Christmas shopping? I'll be looking for little things for teenagers / kids / babies / stocking fillers / kitchen utensils for adults, rather than designer handbags.

In one stop on the RER from Gare Du Nord to Chatelet Les Halles for the Les Halles underground shopping mall.

Per above, go to Chatelet. It's one stop on the RER B line. Head outside to E. Dehillerin; the most amazing cookware shop ever. One of Julia Child's favourite shops. Every kitchen utensil known to man.

Then head back to the Westfield shopping mall at Chatelet station for the rest. Just in front, there might be a Christmas market outside the St Eustache church if you're lucky.
