Hi there,

I'm looking after a 3 and a 5 year old over the Easter weekend, any advice on sites/books that gives ideas on activities and stuff to do that doesn't involve Alton Towers!

thanks!

My friend showed me this lovely booklet which has activities to do with your kids, all sorts of things that you did when you were little like blowing Easter eggs, going to see new born lambs and planting seeds - back to nature kind of stuff - far removed from Alton Towers! Does that sound like the kind of thing you mean or where you looking for staged events? Ps. I'll find out the name of it if you're interested..

ooooh yes, sounds perfect Mumtwotwo, if it's not too much hassle ...

We're in luck - I called my friend and the booklet is free (even better!) and you can either download it from the Kerrygold butter website (www.kerrygold.co.uk) or contact them for a printed copy. Hope this helps - good luck with the kids at Easter!

Is it just Easter things to do in the booklet? I'm having trouble keeping my two entertained ALL THE TIME!!!

What about doing stuff like our grans used to do. Old fashioned stuff, for example a button box, making an easter bonnet, get a big box draw pictures or cut pic out magazines and make a dolls house and dress the dolls, musical statues, hide & seek or marbles. Sorry I got carried away, I've been reading a book about the olden days, they didn't have many toys and they made loads of stuff, I'm well inspired. And last idea is buy a pizza base and let the kids decorate their own pizza they love that. Enjoy urself

Cooking - make fairy cakes or biscuits and ice them.

Download pix from internet for colouring in.

Painting. When my dc were little you could keep them happy for hours with paint and a few empty cereal boxes. DS1 once made a train from empty boxes an spent the whole weekend painting it.

You need to spend some time outside every day too whatever the weather or you will all go mad. Walk to look at spring flowers? Feed ducks? Nice park?
