Anyone been? I’m going to tag along with dh who has to be out there for work. V nice hotel with pools, on the beach also

what do people wear?

it’s going to be hot, but how
much flesh is acceptable (I mean bare arms and legs)?

do people dress up in the evening?

i’ll
go on a couple of excursions as well, won’t just be in the hotel

thank you!

Dd was there recently. Did not have to cover up apart from when visiting a mosque. So shorts & t shirts/loose trousers mainly. Not sure about evening wear.

Weathers lovely at that time of year. Evening wise it depends where you are going I would say? I mostly just wore dresses when over there. They won’t say anything if you wear things that are culturally not appropriate, but generally my friend suggested no thin straps (eg cover shoulders a bit) I really didn’t wear anything I wouldn’t wear here. Bare arms and legs is fine though.

if you go to a wadi to swim, they ask you cover up more I just wore longer shorts and a t shirt. And re same for mosque. Also take something to cover up as if you go shopping etc it’s all air con so I did find that colder.

beautiful country.

Beautiful time of year in Oman. You can wear anything in the hotel pretty much. Yes dress up in evening if a nice place.

Excursions/shopping malls/local restaurants/souk etc then avoid short shorts/skirts and vest or strappy tops. T shirts and knee length anything is fine. Take a shawl/pashmina with you. Evenings might be cool eg 18-20 degrees so you'd use it then too.

Enjoy - it's a beautiful place with beautiful people. A world away from Dubai or Abu Dhabi.

And yes in wadi or on public beach just cover up a bit more.

It won't be hot, will be perfect, might even get some rain. I used to live there it was jumper weather in December once you got through the summer 😂

Anything goes clothes wise really in the hotel. If your hotel has access to a public beach I would cover up a bit more eg board shorts / rash vest.

Be respectful when outside
Of the hotel shorts are fine but not hot pants, shoulders covered etc.

Good to know, thank you. I wasn't sure what to wear by the pool / beach particularly. I might take a light, short cotton kaftan and wear it over my cossie in the pool

In the pool just whatever normal bikini or costume. Same for sunbathing by the pool. If it's a hotel beach then same. If it's a public beach pop a kaftan or rash/board shorts on. Enjoy!
