Nervous new mum trip to Quebec

My husband is taking a school ski trip to Quebec, Canada, and myself and six month old Patrick have been invited along. I don't intend to ski, but I feel really nervous about air travel with a baby and I'm not sure about what Patrick will need to keep him warm, well and content. Any advice?

Wooo, it's coooold this time of year there. In fact Quebec lost out to Salt Lake City for the Olympics because it would actually be too cold for some of the events! Don't worry about the plane trip, especially if you are nursing. Baby will just nurse more than usual because the air is so dry. What you'll need is a really good warm all-in-one snowsuit, hat and mittens. That said, you probably won't be spending extended periods of time outside, and central heating is excellent in Canada. Also restaurant and hotel staff are generally nice about heating bottles, food etc. (By the way I'm Canadian, now living in Dublin.)
Have a great trip!

Don't worry at all. As skerriesmum says an all in one suit etc is perfect BUT, I'd buy one when you arrive - easy to do, honest but worth getting a good one. Good quality ones here cost the earth so just get a fleece hat & mitten set before you leave and get decent stuff there.

Equally, don't stress about the flight - just do your usual routine, he'll be fine. I would hassle the airline though, on a daily basis & no I'm not joking, to make sure they are aware you are travelling with a baby and need a skycot.

If you fret he will too, remember that even if he has a bad day and screams all the way there that it is only a 6 hour flight which is one quarter of one day of a long lifetime and you are never likely to meet anyone from that flight ever again.

If you do a search here you'll find stacks of other advice about flying with little ones.

Enjoy, I wish it was me !
