Would be going next September. Looked at New York (BA deals for £700 for 3 nights) but we have been several times before. Looked at Palma but was same price as NYC - is it worth it?
Would prefer a shorter European flight really. Any other suggestions?

Palma is lovely but is expensive now.

£700 each for New York or total?

What sort of thing do you like?

Seville is lovely for a short break and will still be nice and warm in September

I wouldn’t go abroad but to a faaaaaabulous UK hotel like Cliveden (which might cost around the same!) but far more relaxing not to have the airport experience, potential delays etc etc

I did think about that, but I feel like the travel is worth it for sunshine, sights etc. I feel a bit ripped off in the UK

We like some sightseeing (walk miles usually) lovely food, bar hopping, relaxing by a pool/beach. Not fussy!

That makes sense - I was going to say for £700 all in I would just go to New York as that’s some deal!

Otherwise, if you want some warmth and not too long a flight:

Malaga
Granada
Dubrovnik
Split
Madrid
Barcelona
Lisbon
Porto

I've just been looking at Krakow for DH's 60th next year. Short flight, culture, cafes and it's meant to be very good value. I've found deals for upwards of £600 for 2 of us for 3 nights. My budget is around £750 and it looks like you can get a decent hotel in the old town for that kind of money.

cherryassam · 27/09/2023 21:26

Oh yes definitely Valencia as well

bubblicious47 · 27/09/2023 22:01

Thanks all, plenty to think of now!

Santorini?

San Sebastian

I personally find 3 nights too short, you have a long flight, the jet lag.

Also, NY is terrible expensive at the moment.

Italy at the Sorrento or Almalfi Coast?

Lisbon?

Palma is lovely for a short break, great food, lots to see, lovely hotels.

Bruges has lovely old buildings and chocolate and beer shops. Lots to do I went on canal ride, went up a windmill wear trousers getting down is hard, a diamond factory tour, a chocolate making your, lots of lovely restaurants, horse drawn carriage ride. We found it quite a romantic break.

DottyP · 29/09/2023 16:02

i was going to suggest Lisbon. You can walk pretty much everywhere (or get trams) although need to travel out for beaches. The old town Alfama is is beautiful. Lots of little cobbled streets and bars/restaurants. Or Dubrovnik? Stay outside the walls and walk in. Boat trips to Cavtat and Lokrum. Beautiful water. Love it there.

Sconehenge · 29/09/2023 16:04

Just a warning that NYC is INSANELY expensive right now - even if you’re coming from somewhere like London - dining out etc just eye watering, even in casual places. I would stay in Europe if you can.

I went to Singapore for my 50th, this year it's 54 and we are going to Krackow it looks beautiful

Notimeforaname · 29/09/2023 22:19

South of France? I like the sound of Seville too. Also Lisbon will be warm. And beaches not too far away from city.
