Flashpack or similar? (and cheaper?!)

Thinking about booking a holiday for just me and considering a group trip. Has anyone been on one they'd recommend? I can probably get two weeks off sometime between December and March. I'm 41 and have only been abroad on my own short haul before. Any recommendations welcome! Thank you

(Flashpack seems really expensive especially considering you have to share a bedroom with a stranger but maybe I'm unrealistic about what it might cost!)

I've not heard of Flashpack before. I've not used them myself, but close family have used Intrepid, G Adventures and Cosmos for group touring. Exodus is another well known one, and Trailfinders do group tours. Plus the more luxury companies like Audley and Hays and Jarvis.

They all offer quite similar tours taking in all the usual tourist sights. The more expensive ones stay in nicer hotels and have more meals and activites included whilst the cheaper tours will stay in more basic accommodation with more free time and optional excursions (just watch out that you don't book an 18-30 tour by mistake!). So it's worth shopping around a bit, check out a few different companies and compare the list of inclusions/extras before you make a decision.
