Weekend in Sardinia with friends

Hi. Two friends and I are going next month for a long weekend. We fly into Cagliari. Any suggestions where to go? Any nice, smaller hotels you can recommend? We'd rather not hire a car if possible. Thanks!

If you want to go out and about in Sardinia you will need a car.

visited Pula by bus on one day and on another day visited a beach in Cagliari (by bus again)

We had a couple of really great meals - one place was like a set menu/ buffet with fantastic seafood and the option of unlimited prosecco, it was fantastic , was a few years ago (2017) that we were there, but i think it was this one

We stayed in Cagliari a few years ago at the Hotel Regina Margherita & can recommend it, excellent service. It's a short walk from the centre & some really good restaurants.
We did not hire a car, used public transport & booked a day-trip with a local company.

Thanks all and really appreciate the hotel recommendations, I'll have a look. Can't wait to go back, 35 years after my first visit to Sardinia as a teenager, which made me fall in love with Italy. It is still my favourite country to visit!
