Should I move from London to Bath, is it nice there?

I'm thinking of moving to Bath. I've got 2 boys of 4 and 6. we live in london and have a big school problem (at great C of E primary but state secondary awful and private impossible to get in and impossibly expensive). I will have to move at some point and am thinking the sooner the better for the boys making friends. Bath seems really georgeous and quite close to london.
I ideally want to send the boys to a nice not too smart private school which is attended by local kids - so we can have friends living close by.(have received Kingswood prospectus and it looks fantastic)

Anyone got the low down on Bath schools?
I'm going to be looking for bookkeeping/accounting work - are there lots of jobs in Bath?
Although I had a great aunt living in Bath, I don't know anyone - is Bath a friendly place??

Are there good things to do round about?
Or can you suggest somewhere better?

Hi Bath is great...we live just outside in a village so have best of both worlds really. Its a world heritage city and yes the routes in are busy but where isn't?

Have very young infants so haven't started on the schools yet but have friends with children at Kingswood and they are pleased. The other major private schools are King Edwards - highly academic and Royal High School for Girls. Arguably the best 'Bath' suburb is 'Lansdown' towards the north of the city where both Kingswood and Royal are situated incidentally... but there are lots of others I think which are also rather nice. Or you could look at Bath villages...

Shopping very good...need I say more...?
