I have booked our first caravan holiday- after reading trustpilot reviews, I am doubting myself. Please reassure me

They’re usually fine! Caravans can sometimes take a little getting used to if you’re not used to them, but they’re usually pretty clean if sometimes basic.

Which park are you staying at?

Many of the parks have good facilities for little ones - pools, play areas etc.

Just had a look and it’s in St Ives I think?

mistermagpie · 01/08/2023 21:57

I love a haven. For the future, the best thing to do is do a bit of research and book a private van - we got a sea front van with three beds, washing machine and dishwasher, wraparound deck etc, for less than half haven were charging for an equivalent van.

Anyway, you'll have a blast - our kids love those kind of holidays. Hopefully the weather picks up but honestly, they are good fun. We mostly don't do the entertainment stuff to be honest, it's not our scene, we do a lot of days out and use the van as a base mainly, but we haven't been to a site that wasn't nice.

Whatames · 01/08/2023 21:58

Depends on the place. We went to the blue dolphin in Filey and it was awful—but the weather was bad too. St Ives is absolutely beautiful so I think you’ll have a lovely time

cherryassam · 01/08/2023 21:59

Pressed send too early!

If it is the one just outside of St Ives, the beaches are lovely there, both Hayle Beach and The Towans.

Hopefully someone will be along to reassure you who has stayed at that park, but the Google Reviews seem generally very positive!

Nowtworthlookingat · 01/08/2023 22:01

Havens a vary a lot - I had to visit loads for work once. Blue Dolphin where @Whatames went is not exactly the jewel in the crown, but I've heard the Cornwall sites are generally good.

Riviera Sands in bronze caravan

We’ve been there a lot! The bronze caravans can be quite small but it is a lovely park. How many of you are staying?

ballsdeep · 01/08/2023 22:03

Just to reassure you - it is one of our fave parks. It is quite small which is good. The beaches are beautiful and there is a good play park down the road. Hayle is lovely and you can catch a bus into at Ives. We travelled around to flambards etc and really enjoyed it! We love it there

caringcarer · 01/08/2023 22:07

I used to own a caravan on the primrose Valley Haven site when my DC were small. I used to go for all 6 weeks over the summer holidays and DH used to come for 1 week then 1 week back at work, repeat twice more do he got 3 weeks holiday there. They have kids clubs, a tiger that dances to some Tiger Club songs and a fabulous large swimming pool with lots of shoots and flumes and things. PV had trampolines and other stuff too like all weather sports court and putting golf.

takemetothespace · 01/08/2023 22:11

We are five of us- three children and two adults.
Thank you for the reassurance.

Always love a Haven holiday! My DC were brought up on them! They're in their 20s now and still go and drag me along sometimes too!

Have a fabulous time, I'm envious!

Comedycook · 01/08/2023 22:19

I haven't been to that one but I've been to others and enjoyed them. The caravans are surprisingly nice and comfortable to stay in. I've always found them spotlessly clean. The swimming pools were nice and activities for kids are good. We went to one is sussex and my DD did crafts, climbing, segways etc. She loved it. I found the food a bit hit and miss in the onsite pub/restaurant though.

Hi
Seeking advice here,I currently live in the south west but av bin nursing the urge to move and work somewhere else,DH is happy with whatever decision I make. Job opportunities at Milton Keynes and Newcastle-upon-Tyne and just wondering Where's best especially cos of my DS and DD is 4 (starting sch sept) ,generally just a good town, nuerodivergent and relatively moderate cost of living.
Thank you

Stomacharmeleon · 01/08/2023 23:11

@Rhenikeh you need to start a new thread and lots will come and advise.

Rhenikeh · 01/08/2023 23:13

Hi aw do I do dat, pretty new to d platform

stilldumdedumming · 01/08/2023 23:15

We go to Rivière Sands every year. Twice this year. But we don't have children with us. The vans have always been brilliant and the staff are really ace. It is small and we don't do any of the entertainment. So I'm afraid I can't comment on that

stilldumdedumming · 01/08/2023 23:16

Also the beach is massive- so much room.

AlfietheSchnauzer · 01/08/2023 23:23

We've been going to Haven twice to three times per year since 2013 and never had a bad experience! Yes some caravans were better spec wise but never dirty & never below the standard I'd want! Most times I'm shocked at how clean it is! They seal the caravan door closed after cleaning & the toilets all have seals on after cleaning. Honestly don't worry about a thing! All levels of caravans are lovely these days. They did used to not have central heating in the lowest & second to lowest tier caravans but not anymore, they now all have it & 9 times out of 10 they have far more specifications than what you've actually paid for.

The worst thing I've ever had occur was the caravan needing to be jacked up one more level on one side as it was slightly uneven - that was in 2014. Not a single issue since.

I can tell you the best parks to visit if you'd like?

Yeah Blue Dolphin is one of the worst ones I've ever been to. I highly recommend nearby Reighton Sands or Thornwick Bay. I'm f you have kids then definitely Primrose Valley as there's ten times the activities

You should see PV now! Boyyyy has it changed within the past couple of years! The on site activities have doubled there's now two separate main areas

caringcarer · 01/08/2023 23:30

@AlfietheSchnauzer, I owned a caravan there 19 years ago now.
