We are planning a 2 week holiday in Lake Garda next summer (me, DH & 2 teenage DDs). This is our first holiday outside UK since DDs were born.
I chose a package through Jet2, as they fly from our local airport.
Before booking, I priced up the different elements of the trip - flight, hotel, baggage, transfer. I can save around £500 doing this, plus select better rooms in our chosen hotel.
Is it a no-brainer to book independently? We'll be on exactly the same Jet2 flight as on the package deal, and in the same hotel (in nicer rooms!). The hotel offer to arrange a private transfer, so no hassle there.
Part of me feels the package is somehow "safer" but I can't put my finger on what I'm worried about. Of course, I'll make sure we have a decent travel insurance policy.
