Changing Easyjet booked seats - do we get a refund?

Check in has opened for our flight and there are seats available for free, but when we booked we paid for specific seats.
If we change to the free seats would we automatically get a refund?
Thanks!

Are you sure they are not just showing as free to change to as you already paid?

No you aren't entitled to a refund if you decide to choose other seats. Their terms below:

Except as set out in 9.5 and 9.6 below, all seat fees are non-refundable. If you change your flight and have paid for a seat on your original flight, we will try to offer you an equivalent seat on your new flight. If the new seat fee is higher than your original seat fee, you will need to pay the extra to select it. If the equivalent seat is not available, you prefer another seat, or you do not want to select one, you will not be entitled to a refund.

Nope. This is why I never pay for seats with EasyJet. Just check in as soon as it opens

You’re paying that much for the guarantee of getting those seats. They could just have well been already booked by the time you check in. That’s why the cost is more, for pre booking.

Does the £48 include extra cabin luggage, legroom etc, that may be what you had paid for.

Actually it could do, we paid for an extra cabin bag each. That makes me feel a bit better!

Dh paid £21 each way for cabin bag so one each could be a large part of your cost.
