Hotel recommendations in Puglia

Hi

I’m looking for a hotel in the Puglia area of Italy. Preferably with a pool and walking distance (up to 20 to 30 mins) to a beach. Also within walking distance to restaurants as I prefer to eat at multiple places rather than go all inclusive.

will have a 2 year old so family friendly would be great. Crèche would be incredible but not required.

we don’t drive so walkable is essential.

any recommendations?

@Moltenpink thank you! Did you stay there? Could you walk to restaurants?

Whereabouts in Puglia? We are in the southern bit, Salento. We fly into Bari or Brindisi. You’ll could look at residences; Club Med type places, like Robinsons https://www.robinson.com/en/en/resort-holiday/italy/apulia/club-details/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwtO-kBhDIARIsAL6Lorcli4Yddc-YQc1K5O0hXrceDAqI5bfnsSVvigZAViMooFPhjgtokWQaAgq6EALw_wcB

but your problem is that they’re not situated close to the towns, but outside (like Torre Rinalda above). You will be limited without a car; public transport options outside the large city are not great. Bear in mind that you will not want to be walking 20-30 mins to the beach each day; depending on when you go, it’ll be too hot. So check that where ever you choose has a beach shuttle or bus option.

There’s the Gran Hotel Riviera in Santa Maria al Bagno (near where we summer). They have a pool, as well as a section of lido over the rocks reserved for guests. Looks super nice (we drive past it on way to the beach). Half way between Santa Caterina and Santa Maria ( SC slightly posher). Both very lively, bustling seaside town with lots of restaurants and activities, plus a sandy cove as well as rock swimming and diving. They are unlikely to have a crèche, though.

Torre Rinalda doesn’t take children <5 in the mini club ; a lot of places won’t unless you’re going higher end.

A lot of residences are half or full board, though. So you might prefer hotels. Beach sunbed hire is very expensive unless included in your hotel. Budget minimum €25-30 a day for 2 beds and an umbrella.

There's a couple of places between Bari and Brindisi that are larger and might have more facilities. Including the mega pricey place near Fasano.

Have a look at Cala d'Otranto resort.

We’ve been here with young children

This is the fancy place I mentioned in Fasano. It is very expensive, and reviews can be mixed (I’ve stayed there myself). They do tick the boxes though in terms of pools, access to beach etc (there’s a shuttle) and also they can send a driver to collect from airport. On the downside, there are no restaurants or nightlife to walk to in the vicinity; you’ll need to get a cab to the nearest town.
