I need a holiday!!!
Want to go away the week of 7th Feb (Monday). Tried Centerparcs, but fully booked. Except for apartments with no room for kids.
So where can we go instead?
2 adults, 2 3 yr olds and 2 babies under 1.
I'm in Leeds, friend is in Birmingham.
Budget, well as little as possible but open to suggestions!
Where can we go?????

Hi Yorkiegirl, did you have any luck finding somewhere yet?
It's my first posting on here so hi everyone! This site is fantastic I've been on here for hours.

I'm 28 with a 6yr old son and a 14 month old son.

Ok, introduction over - I hate being a newbie!!

What about Blackpool? It's easy for you both to get to and there's loads to do. The weather will probably be rubbish - but that's Britain for you!

Now for my confession I own a B&B in Blackpool. I'll tell you a bit about us but I won't put a link (although there are links on here) I don't want to be pushy!

My Mum, my husband and I moved up here last June and spent two months refurbishing the place (it was grim!) - out went the floral carpets and in came wood flooring, new beds, mattresses, linen, towels (everything basically!)......
We are very child friendly (only cater for families and couples), have most baby equipment here (baby bath, highchairs etc..)The family rooms have a TV/Video combi and I have more kids video's than Blockbuster!!
Being family run we are also really flexible, if the kids want a marmite sandwich for breakfast we'll do it.

If you would like any more info let me know, I think I've probably overdone it on my first ever posting!

Hi Bubblerock! And welcome to mumsnet! How do you find Blackpool, and where did you move from?

I must admit as a child I was always desperate to visit Blackpool, but my parents would never take us. Then a good friend moved to Cleveleys and I visited often and it always rained! I haven't been back for years now. When the boys are a bit bigger I want to take them to go on the rollercoasters.

What about renting a cottage from somewhere like www.welcomecottages.co.uk . The are really reasonable and we have used them a few time snow - and all been very good.

We're going to Centerparcs this Friday ... can't wait! We've never been before.
DS2 is very excited
PS taking the kids out of school for 2 days - shhh, don't tell the teachers

bubblerock · 16/01/2005 22:12

I looked at the ads topic but it was so quiet on there I wasn't sure if it was worth doing. Maybe I could just put some school Holiday breaks on the 'for sale' threads instead.

We're loving living in Blackpool - much more to do than my hometown of Gloucester! Really looking forward to a summer without DIY! Might actually get to spend time at the beach. I'm not going anywhere near those rollercoasters though - since having the kids I'm such a wimp!

Hulababy · 16/01/2005 22:14

Whay kind of thing do you want Yorkiegirl? And what type of activities, etc. do you want close by?

Have sent a CAT message, just to let you know that we've changed our policy to 4 years and under go free(it was 2 years and under).

Hulababy · 16/01/2005 22:44

Well if the Blackpool place doesn't go through, then I do reccomend Welcome Cottages

nicm · 17/01/2005 09:27

hi

if you're going at easter, i would try the holiday park in the netherlands. haven't been to the park but went to amsterdam last feb with a 4 yo and everyone was wonderful. they were exellent with kids and no matter where we went she was fussed over. good luck in finding somewhere.

littlemissbossy · 17/01/2005 10:31

Hi Yorkiegirl! have you tried www.sunparks.com? They are Belgium's equivalent to Centerparks but half the price. They have two parks that are an easy drive from Calais, one within an hours drive. Just click on the top right button to convert the site into English

bubblerock, could you CAT me too as I luuuuurve Blackpool and can't wait to go back. Have two DSs aged 7 and 4 who love it too. In fact this October DS1 said he liked it as much as Disney world

bubblerock · 17/01/2005 12:06

Hi juniper, I just tried to CAT but it didn't work so I'll put our address on here, I guess it might get removed but I'm really not going for the hard sell just trying to be helpful, I know how hard it is to find a decent place to stay especially in Blackpool where there are so many to choose from you never know what you're going to get, it really is pot luck and with kids it's a bit of a worry! Anyway, we're The Berisfield Hotel www.berisfieldhotel.co.uk
We sometimes auction rooms/breaks on Ebay, you can read previous guests feedback on 'bubblerockjl' - mixed in with all the other useful items (lol) that i've bought and sold!

Quacks · 17/01/2005 21:12

yEs I've been to ribby hall!!! Loved it! Like a mini centerparcs, ents too, the accom was great and just a drive into blackpool, but we stayed mostly on site, pool also great!

PrincessGrace · 17/01/2005 21:20

Hi littlemissbossy - I've just had a look at sunparks website and it looks really good - have you been to one? I'd be really interested to find out more
