October sun - heated pool a must !

Hi
I'm hoping for some recommendations with our really specific requirements. Last year we went to Seaside Los Jameos in Lanzarote with teen DS and his friend and I suspect we may end up going back there as I'm really struggling to find anywhere that ticks all the boxes, so any suggestions gratefully received.

On the list is:

  • Outdoor pool that is heated mid - end Oct when we are going
  • Excellent food - we are probably going to go AI as DS and his pal loved it
  • Gym with decent weight selection- this is not for me you understand- or a local gym that could be joined for a week
  • Spa area where people are not naked - I thought I'd found a perfect place in Gran Canaria which is owned by the same people as Seaside Los Jameos, but apparently sauna visits are in the buff which puts me right off, never mind some teenage boys
  • Freshly made cocktails would be good, as would some decent evening entertainment, but I'm aware the list is getting long Grin

We may end up going back to the same place, but it would be good to go to a different country either Cyprus or Turkey or maybe a different part of the Canaries - not been to Gran Canaria or Fuerteventura as a family before.

Thanks @hilbil21 unfortunately Delphin pool only heated from 1 Nov, I wonder if a lot of hotels are cutting back on pool heating because of the cost.

Oh really? I have friends going beginning of October I wonder if they realise this Shock

@rookiemere I've never found another hotel that I've liked as much as Seaside Los Jameos. We have stayed in some nice hotels in Majorca since the Prinshotels have been nice but don't think Majorca is great for October sun.

The Antalya forum on TripAdvisor have collated a list of hotels there that have heated pools. From memory when we looked at it, the Delphin Begrand looked the best option or the Maxx hotels which heat their pools to a higher temp but they are £££. Another option we've thought of is a private villa somewhere like Playa Blanca as you can then pay to have the pool heated.

rookiemere · 28/05/2023 10:37

@loopsngeorge thank you ! I think I have looked at the ones you mentioned < although brain turned to mush after looking at too many options > and I think they were around the £7K mark for a week, whereas I'm looking around the £5k max mark.

I don't think a private villa would work as teen DS and his pal loved having the gym, sauna and bizarrely the evening entertainment at the hotel. Plus I do think with teens having two meals per day where they can eat as much as they want already paid for, makes a big difference.

Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife ticks all those boxes

CottonSock · 28/05/2023 10:47

This place had a heated pool, not the big infinity one, but it was warm.
Area is a bit boring though.
Food was good.
Didn't try gym or evening entertainment but kids entertainment was decent.

If you went to Marrakech you probably wouldn’t need a heated pool as it’s still really warm in October usually. We went first week in Oct last year and it was 30+ degrees every day

Muchtoomuchtodo · 28/05/2023 14:24

Arum Barut Collection in Turkey.

One of the outside pools as well as the indoor one was heated when we were there at the end of last October / start of November.

Look at Rixos Premium Belek. Sounds like it fits your requirements, with the added extra of Land of Legends theme park and water park next door for the teens (free entry if staying in the hotel)

More suggestions thank you everyone.

Sadly a few are out of budget- I guess a heated pool is only a 5 star thing these days, but do keep them coming.

@Chocbuttonsandredwine that's Marrakesh off the list unfortunately- mid 30s is far too high for us , we like Canaries mid twenties as a max temperature, so it's useful to know it's that hot.

@rookiemere Out of interest, where did you choose in the end? I found this thread and your criteria matches ours!

rookiemere · 10/08/2024 22:39

@TwinDad10 we ended up going to the GF Gran in Costa Adeje. Ironically after my demands for a heated pool, DH and I spent most of our time at the adults only rooftop area as it was a lot more peaceful, with non heated pool Grin although it was quite pleasant by late afternoon when the sun had been on it.

It's not a 5 star hotel, more like a 4 star but price reflected that. It ticked many of the boxes and the teens loved being in happening Tenerife, but I much preferred the food, cocktails, gym and entertainment at Seaside los Jameos.
