Mahon Menorca - would you recommend?

Could we occupy ourselves there for a week with a couple of day trips by bus? We were going to hire a car but it seems very expensive.
Mahon looks nicer than I thought it would.

I haven’t been to Menorca for over 10 years, but when I was there last the public transport was excellent between the beach resorts and both Ciutadella and Mahon. Mahon itself is very interesting and walkable, although steep with steps down to the harbour.

Yes we stayed in Mahon last year and really liked it. The roads were quiet and easy to drive on if you fancied hiring a car. We used the bus once when arriving by ferry. The lovely bus driver could see we were lost, took us to his friend in the bus station who then took us to our hotel at no extra charge. This is just one example of the fantastic hospitality we received on the island.

Have you chosen your hotel yet? There are a couple I highly recommend if you’re going as a couple.

We stayed in Jardí de Ses Bruixes Boutique Hotel, which was absolutely beautiful. Ideal location and came with off-road parking just around the corner. It was worth every penny and cheaper as we booked with them directly. https://jardidesesbruixesboutiquehotel.com-hotel.com/

Been to Menorca many tines, mainly resorts. Stayed in mahon last year, at the port of mahon Hotel. Although no beach, we had a fantastic break, was easy to spend a week there. We did hire a car and went to a beach one day though.

Nice short taxi ride/transfer from the airport.

We stopped in Mahon as part of a cruise - absolutely wonderful and extremely skillful sail in.

We took a coach to a nearby beach resort which was amazing.
