Last minute week away

Due to an unexpected windfall, DP & I are able to have a week's holiday in the next month or so.

I haven't been on a sun holiday since 2019 and wondered if anyone had any tips for getting the best last minute deal.

We don't mind where we go, as long as there is a pool, we're able to walk and it's sunny.

Sounds lovely, have a look on Tui website, they have some great discounts on last minute bookings, you can search by the airport you want to fly from. If your budget stretches IKOS resorts are all inc, top end luxury, they have quite a few in Spain, Greek islands etc. have fun choosing and enjoy your holiday.

I was just nipping back on to say budget of roughly £1k between us. I've just been looking at prices for Costa del sol & it's £750 +

I'll check out Tui, thank you.

Avoid the last week in May which is a school holiday week so prices will be bumped up, and some schools have the week after off too although that tends to be cheaper. Your budget is pretty tight for 2 people. Try jet2 holidays and easyJet too.

Second the recommendation for Jet2holidays. There's a good deals locator where you can put in your dates, filter for board type, good Trip Advisor rating etc and sort by price.

I'd probably look for self catering or B&B in an apartment so you can eat out once a day and then get easy supermarket food, drinks, snacks etc. Unless you're happy with buffet AI, that's probably the best value way to do it.

I'd probably look at mainland Spain, Malta, Greece or Canaries for cheapest eating out while you're there, Balearics seems to cost a bit more in my experience.

We booked at the last minute this time last year. We used Jet2 and found a nice hotel in Portugal for £1,200 half board. Just looked at the same deal this year and at the moment it is £300 dearer. I have a docs appt today which I am expecting to get the all clear so we can book a hol in June. Our preference would be booking flights and accommodation separately, but Easyjet and Ryanair prices seem high booking late, so will go jet2 or Tui. If you can find a cheap flight James Villas have some good last minute deals.

Also just been having a look for a cheap break for next month and quite shocked by Jet2’s prices. Easyjet starts off cheap but by the time you add things on it isn’t actually any cheaper than Jet2. I think I will have a break for two or three days and work out how to clear my cookies on all our devices.

@BeeBB i think prices have just gone up significantly both home and abroad. I’ve recently been paying (well I haven’t, work have!) £100 for a mid week premier inn in the back end of nowhere. Those sort of places I expect to be about £40! We booked flights to Tenerife for September back in November and they were over £300 per person even with the “budget” airlines.
