Christmas in Costa Adeje

Frostytiger87 · 27/04/2023 09:28

Hi , we would love to get away for Christmas. Yes it’s expensive but probably something that we will do once .
We are thinking Gran Canaria , we’ve been to Playa De Ingles and Amadores :
We have one 17 year old can anyone recommend a nice 4/5 star hotel all inc that’s is close to amenities & will have teens her age please
We stayed at a lovely hotel in playa de ingles last year but it was geared towards older people with few teens that were German so there was a language barrier
thankyou

You'll probably get confusing replies as Costa Adeje is in Tenerife

Frostytiger87 · 27/04/2023 10:13

I have got it confused Sophia Thankyou 😂
It is actually Costa Adeje that I’m looking at going to

I’ve just come back from Costa Adeje but I stayed at an adults only hotel so can’t recommend that one. The hotel that looked the nicest nearby was the Iberostar Selection Anthelia, looked amazing!

Frostytiger87 · 27/04/2023 10:52

Thankyou jellifer I’ll take a look

The Anthelia is really nice. We stayed there a few times and it has a mix of all ages. Even if there aren't many teens in the hotel (I don't recall abundance or lack of teens), the strong point of the Anthelia is that is next to Playa de Fañabe and this is a very popular beach for young people day and night. It is a long strip of shops and cafés on the beach with a lot of teens .

Additional bonus, there isn Italian cafe called exotica which makes amazing coffee and ice-cream.
Fañabe is left when you exit the back gate of the Anthelia. If you go right and follow the gorgeous promenade along the sea, you get to the next beach (5-10 min walk depending if you stop for selfies ) called Playa del Duque.
This beach is much nicer than Fañabe which has dark sand and there are young people there too.
Another hotel on the opposite side of Playa del Duque is Costa Adele Palace H10. Massive bonus point is indoor heated pool. Less luxurious than Anthelia but still vey nice.
Both hotels have outdoor heated pools, but they are the smaller ones. Anthelia has a massive over the top pool, but so cold, nobody is there .

There are many hotels around but a lot would be on a top of the hill, and you can't really judge by looking at the map. You might think it is just a few minute walk, but in reality , the hill is quite steep

I've been there and it was a lovely part to stay. I need to try to remember the name of the hotel. It was fantastic

BG2015 · 27/04/2023 19:42

We've booked for Christmas/New Year in Tenerife, but we're staying in Los Cristianos. Not sure how I'm feeling about being away, but my grown up sons tend to do their own things now they both have girlfriends.

Just hoping the weather is good enough for a bit of sunbathing and walking.

WinchSparkle80 · 27/04/2023 19:45

Anthelia for sure, we are going back again this year!

Frostytiger87 · 28/04/2023 08:42

Have a love time BG2015, I think sometimes we need quality time to ourselves ☀️
The Anthelia looks absolutely beautiful winchsparkle 80 but a bit too expensive for us sadly .

GF Victoria is gorgeous too!

Frostytiger87 · 28/04/2023 09:00

Thankyou , is the GF Victoria suitable for a 17 year old , I’m so nervous booking as the holiday we had last Oct was perfect for my self and hubby it was peaceful but our teen was bored .
I would like some relaxation but she also needs kids her own age

Thankyou for your informative reply Cormoron it’s greatly appreciated, I’m scanning the net now trying to find something to suit us all

@Frostytiger87 Unusually the GF Victoria has a 'Teen Club' that accepts up to age 17, plus a water park (lots of it for younger kids but there are some 'adult sized' slides too). It's got a surf simulator and bizarrely a whole room dedicated to car/motorbike racing simulators! The Hard Rock Hotel is a bit further out in Playa Paraiso but good for teens too.

Frostytiger87 · 28/04/2023 11:03

Thankyou QueSyrahSyrah, that’s really helpful I’ll take a look

We stayed AI at Las Dahlias in Costa Adeje last year. It's a nice hotel with good food and fab entertainment however my teenage dc were a bit bored there as there was nothing for them to do. All if the activities were centred around younger children or adults.

Tbf not many hotels cater for teens as they are a tricky age group. They don't always want to join in and can be a bit self conscious about making friends.

It's not in C Adeje but I think the Hard Rock Hotel has stuff going on for teens.

Frostytiger87 · 29/04/2023 10:26

I agree it is an awkward age , it was so much easier when she was young we sat by the pool side all day while she played in the pool.
thankyou

The hard Rock hotel is very expensive and I’ve read it’s in the middle of nowhere . It looks cool though

Surely the teen will be happy chilling on his phone and going for walks with you. There's Siam Park which should go down well and water sports at the beach. You could go up Teide as well.

You don't need your hotel to have "activities for teens". The Bahia group are good

Frostytiger87 · 29/04/2023 10:36

Thankyou , our last holiday was frustrating my teen spent the whole time in the hotel room on the phone while we sat by the pool
we just about managed a family walk in the evening & trying to persuade a bit of hotel activities.

OP posts:
SingAlongAndItMightJustGetYouThrough · 29/04/2023 10:55

That's the thing though, I'm not sure that within a lower budget that you'll get anything to excite him within the hotel
Entertainment. You need to plan the trips yourself.

Get him involved in choosing activities and then make an itinerary, including time for him to sit on his phone. It's his holiday too and that's what teenagers do. Explain to him beforehand that you at least want him to do XYZ with you but focusing on forcing him off his phone will just ruin it for everyone.

SingAlongAndItMightJustGetYouThrough · 29/04/2023 10:56

Sorry, she. Not he Blush
