MALTA - Plaza Regency hotel Sliema??

I want to go to Malta this summer. Me, Ds 18, Dd 16.
Pref Sliema area. Pref studio / apartment with small kitchenette.
Need aircon & access to pool would be nice.
Tiny budget.
Went to travel agents (have not been abroad for 20 years, this was last exp)
They have suggested the above hotel.
9 nights bed only accom for 3 in studio (inc flights transfers baggage)
Price £2.8K (!! - not travelled for 20 years so a bit of a shock...)
Only I just looked up reviews for the hotel & it doesnt look good.
I don't mind basic. but I do need clean & working aircon.

Has anyone any experience of this hotel please or can suggest somewhere similar? It needs to be Malta (or poss Sicily so can take trip over to Malta)

Anyone have any advice on this hotel (or others in Malta in same price range)?

We are going in june and staying at the palazzo violetta boutique hotel which has a pool. I think it has a choice of both hotel rooms and apartments.

im not sure how that compares price wise to the other one.

havent stayed there before but we visited last year and had a quick look as needed somewhere this year for a wedding - they seem very friendly and i didnt want a large touristy hotel.

you could look at air bnb and booking.com

4 of us went for 2 weeks at Xmas and stayed in apartments

We paid £600 for 9 days on Gozo and about £300 for 5 days in Sliema
