New swimming pool in Cardiff Bay

Opened about a month ago I believe, I went this afternoon with DS. We'd been there 5 minutes and he declared "this is Fantastic!!!"

Really good pool with loads of sprays, water jets, fountains etc A "lazy river" with air jets up from the floors, one of those jacuzzi bits which DS loved cos it made his swim shorts inflate which he thought was hilarious. Deepest point is 1.2m so DS (6), who can only half swim, could still bob around confidently on his tippitoes.

Lots of cleaning staff around the changing rooms, and proper, free, hairdryers. Cubicles are small though with not enough hooks, but I think there's a communal changing area too which would be so much better if you've got a couple of kids.

Nice caff with no visible fruitshoots

Only problem was that the big slides weren't open - they look really good - the woman at reception said "they're quite labour intensive you see" so I'd say if you really want to go on them phone in advance and check. However, when they did open (we were in the caff) the queues must have been 20 minutes, the place does get busy.

Cost £6 for the two of us. But was very worth it.

I'm making a note of that for when we're down in Bridgend for most of Aug!

Hiya Cali, Swansea's reopening in June or thereabouts - big uproar cos it's going to cost £7 to get in. Think we'll have to make a special trip there though.

Califrau - do you remember talk of razor blades on the hydroslide? Totally fictitious of course...but scared me senseless.

I remember queuing to get in when the slide first opened, do you?

I loved, loved, loved the wave machine. I had my favourite place to stand between the lifeguard console and the lifeguard steps. I also loved the diving pool. How I longed to dive.

The new Leisure Centre (LC2) has been renamed Elsie by the people of Swansea. Fab.
