Rhodes or Cyprus early October?

Not been to either - would like a traditional town/village - not full of high rises!

any suggestions please?

Cyprus is beautiful but the main holiday locations are commercialised now, my grandparents live in Tala which is a lovely village about 20 mins from the coast and ‘touristy areas’, not far from Paphos airport, the winery, Akamas, ruins which are all good activities

I would honestly say Rhodes. We looked into both in august last year and went with Cyprus. Hated it ! Don’t get me wrong we did a lot of activities ect. However I found the people not so welcoming, was the old town that was lovely to see historical buildings ect, but walked round it in an hour. Definitely wish we had went with Rhodes ! X

Rhodes is fab. We went the first two weeks in October and the weather was perfect. Rhodes town is lovely, we took a boat trip to the small island of SImi, gorgeous place. We stayed in Lindos, which was charming.

Went to Rhodes October just gone. Fantastic weather.
Stayed at Castellum Suites which was just next to the moat walls of the old town. Recommend. (swimming pool tiny and in the shade but we went for hiking and exploring so irrelevant to us)

I have been to both but would go back to Cyprus in a heartbeat. We only went for 1 week and just went to parts of it and there is so much to see and do.

If you like doing sightseeing, especially historic sites, Cyprus is a big hit. The divided capital - the only one left, the greek temple ruins, the painted churches in the mountains and so on. And that was just the eastern part of the island, we stayed between Paphos and Limasoll and never went toward the western side.
Friends were in Aya Napa and had a great time diving and snorkling as well.

both amazing and perfect weather in October

I've driven from the airport to Rhodes Town and can't say I thought it was particularly beautiful. The town is amazing though.

We then took the hour boat ride to stay on Symi for a week - that was completely beautiful.

And we stayed early October. Daytime weather is perfect, sea is warm. You need a light jacket/sleeves for the evening.

It was Ano Symi where we stayed...the house (named Astradeni) is on Booking.com and those views are from the terrace.

It's a 30 or so minute walk from the main harbour but as you can see from the photos the views are worth it. Plus, if you have a car/moped you can park close.

Lindos on Rhodes is beautiful, I have always rented old style Lindos apartments in the old town. 3 beautiful beaches, an acropolis. Lovely walks. We went to a great spot at the very southern tip of the island too, much less developed. Then took a ferry to Symi.
