car seat on easyjet flight

we are planning to take a 4 month old on a flight from gatwick to almeria in april flying with easyjet. my question is where do we stand with a carseat? he is to young to use a pushchair which is allowed on flight but we do have a quinny travel system where the car seat fits to the wheel base and would like to use this. would the carseat have to be checked into hold and therefore would it be taken out of luggage allowance or could we take on board? has anyone had any experience of this?

Hi,

I used to work on Check-In, although it was Birmingham, and for a different airline, but also travelled with LO on different airlines in the past. (Inface we go to Almeria quite often as my Mum and Dad live there, well Mojacar, where are you going?)

Anyway - If you want to take the car seat on the flight you will need to pay for a seat, but (usually) anything to do with baby can be put through as hold luggage, and you can take the whole buggy to the gate and they will put it in the hold for you then. You will need to check this info as each airline is different, but I doubt you'll be charged..

Hope this helps

Hi there if you are using the car seat as part of the travel system in the airport you can keep it right up until you board the plane, however you won't be allowed it on board, they take all buggies/travel systems at the gate. We went on easyjet and took a travel system through the airport and checked in the car seat and travel cot as extras with the rest of our luggage - none of these were counted in our luggage allowance (which was just as well or we'd have ended up way over!).
