Hi all

trying to book a holiday self catering in this area. Looks like lots of flats so far rather than houses.
where else is nice nearby ?

We’ve been lots and always stay in one of the campsites. There’s lots of them and which one will suit you depends on things like will you have a car etc. Look at La Ravoire as a starting point

There are lots of houses on Airbnb around the beautiful Talloire area of Lake Annecy.

Try Sandaya. We have stayed on their sites all over France and they are excellent with both good facilities and locations. The one in Annecy is right on the lake, albeit on the bottom bit. But Annecy itself can be reached in about 20 mins drive.

It's a very expensive town. A 1 bedroom apartment costs upwards of 300k near the lake. Houses are a million plus. We stayed in 3 bed Airbnb flat in October. Was awesome. Annecy is amazing.

We stayed in a lovely air b n b in a little village (closer to Talloires end) called menthon St Bernard. A ten minute walk to the lake. Absolutely loved it. We only went into the actual town once just to see what it was like. Otherwise spent most of it on the beaches by the lake. Also hired bikes and cycled around the lake, went to Mont Blanc one day, hired a little speed boat on the lake. It's truly beautiful. Just look away from the town a bit. I hope you find what you are looking for.

Annecy is gorgeous but very crowded in the summer months with French and foreign tourists. If you are going to have a car then I would look at other towns and villages around the lake to stay. If you won't have a car then an apartment in Annecy would be perfect.

MarshaMelrose · 15/01/2023 10:05

Annecy is lovely. We stayed in a hotel with a balcony over the lake.

Annecy is lovely, but it is a city and as such quite built up, and as often with mountainous areas because there isn't tons of space. But the surrounding area is gorgeous too, so branch out if you can.

Depending on what you want to do, Talloires or Menthon-Saint-Bernard. Annecy is definitely worth visiting though. It is an expensive place to be but really pretty.
