Dubai - debt in the uk

AdoraBell · 11/01/2023 17:08

I have an opportunity to go to Dubai, DH is going on business. I know that if I have a debt in the UAE that affects me leaving their country.

My debt is in the UK, credit card bill that I pay monthly. Does anyone know if the UAE authorities view this the same way?

TIA

Are you asking if you can travel to Dubai and leave while you have a balance on a UK credit card? Yes.

Yes.

The CC bill is too large to pay off before the trip but I pay over the minimum by DD on a monthly basis.

It won't matter at all. The authorities won't know about it and would not care if they did.

Thank you

There is no way the uae authorities could know about your UK finances. The rules only apply to not being able to exit if you have outstanding debt in their country. Which would be hard to get unless you were resident first.

Dubai doesn't want its residents to do a midnight flit after taking a car loan, house loan, business loan etc etc and leaving them in the red. The objection is not to the concept of a loan itself.
If they weren't to allow anybody with a loan into their country as a tourist, they'd be cancelling everyone who had a mortgage, for starters?

Lol. Is this a joke?
