Oz passport- how much 'validity' needed to go to EU Europe?

My DH is Australian and a UK resident and we're going to Europe this summer- France, Belgium and The Netherlands. Does anyone know much time he needs to have on his passport for it to be legal? I'm aware that some countries need you to have 6 months or so before they'll let you enter their country! Whilst I'm sure 3 phone calls should answer this question, my belief is that someone on MN will be able to guide me without the pure frustration of trying to get someone to answer a phone at an embassy!

i think in terms of EU you dont need any extra validity...

arnt you only using it as 'photo id'?

I got turned away from Bali with less than 6 months on my (oz) passport but let into singapore.

Sorry, not helpful for europe, but do find out before you go!
