Can anyone recommend a cheap hotel or B&B around Poitiers?

We're off on a big family holiday in July in the Dordogne. Need an overnight stay on the way down, probably around Poitiers somewhere.

I'm struggling to find somewhere we can afford. We also need cots for 2 babies and preferably a ground floor room for the GPIL.

The other problem is we need it for 13/07 and I believe the 14th is Bastille Day or some sort of French bank holiday thing so everywhere is booking up fast.

If anyone can help me with this I will love you forever!!!

actually it looks like it was Orleans not tours- but very easy to get at from the A10 autoroute

they have also stayed here:
la ferme du chateau which is a bit closer to Poitiers

The first one doesn't look like its big enough for us and windows keeps blocking the 2nd one

There are alot of us. We need 2 double rooms, 1 triple room plus cot or double + child bed and cot, and one family room for 2 adults, 2 dc and cot.

Although I'm beginning to think it might be easier if we stay in different hotels. Specially as we are the ones with the most people but the least money so everyone else is able to stay somewhere more expensive than us and it would be nice to have a night without the inlaws!!

Not sure how much diff it might make, but Poitiers is probably further than you need to look for an overnight stopover for the Dordogne.

There are French equivalents to Travelodge - although with it being that weekend I don't know how much availability there would be but bear with me...

Sorry, I just cannot recall the names of any of the ones I'm thinking of and google is no help either but the Telegraph travel section has some links - HTH

Pesha · 24/01/2008 23:07

Oh you're both fab!!

Creamolafoam - one of your links has some good cheap hotels on. Am looking at the Alteora Comfort, not particularly nice but good enough and cheap enough!! Also seems to be available for all of us so I might book it as my back up and keep searching for somewhere abit nicer!

And WW that Telegraph link looks great too so gonna check out some of them as well.

Thank you
