Baby New Passport

Has anyone applied for a first child passport recently?

My husband and I both have valid passports.
Our daughter is 4 weeks old, so we could only get a birth certificate when she was 2 weeks old. Husband has a work conference middle of September, so we wanted to travel together as a family. I can’t leave her with anyone else, as she’s a bottle refuser and solely breast fed.

Passport tracking only says application and documents, so not sure how long it will take? The birth certificate was sent to the Liverpool (Bootle) office.

I phoned the passport advice line (this was a waste of time) and emailed an address. The young girl on the phone was unsympathetic. She told me they won’t expedite the passport until it has been 6 weeks from application (but that’s too late as we need to travel middle of September). She said she could a note on my file that I needed to fly in the middle of September. I have also emailed my MP, but heard nothing back.

This is the tracking history below:

Application history
StatusDate
Documents received 1:12pm on 17 August 2022
Application received 10:32pm on 15 August 2022
Identity details received 10:31pm on 15 August 2022
Email sent to person confirming your identity 10:24pm on 15 August 2022
Ask someone to confirm your identity 9:45pm on 15 August 2022
Application submitted 9:45pm on 15 August 2022

How can I get her passport sooner?

Thanks for any help

13 weeks here

I rang up today and they have not even allocated her passport application to a passport office.
It has been 2 weeks since they received the application and the birth certificate….no progress.
They told me I should of applied 10 weeks in advance…my daughter was not born 10 weeks ago, she is only 4 weeks old!

We applied for DS's first passport recently. We applied online, they confirmed they'd received his birth cert on 19th July and we received the passport at the end of last week.

Hi, I received a message on the 16th that they had received my documents and another message today that it was approved and printing. So two weeks and should get it this week. Good luck!

@OxfordMum2020 no thirteen weeks!!

I understand that it is frustrating but it is well advertised that you should allow 10 weeks and this is made clear on application. There is a link to find out current processing times right on the start page for application. I know that with a new baby it can be tricky as you can't of course apply before birth or getting a birth certificate but in afraid that just means that you shouldn't make plans to travel so soon after birth.

OP i think you were a bit optimistic you would be able to get a passport in time from the start. I don't think you can be annoyed at the passport office when it is advertised to allow 10 weeks-obviously not possible in your circumstances but thats not their fault
