Zika in Spain 2022

LabLover24 · 22/08/2022 18:23

So… been to Spain (Ibiza) and got bitten a few times. I was 16 weeks pregnant at the time and am now worried sick about Zika as I read tiger mosquitos are able to spread it and are established in Southern Europe.

Would you be concerned? I had vomiting/diarrhoea/general illness on return but could be unrelated as it was almost 3 weeks after I was bitten.

Has anybody else travelled to Spain or similar whilst pregnant?

I suspect it’s no unlikely. Have you looked to see what the foreign office say?

CoverYourselfInChocolateGlory · 23/08/2022 09:21

OP, I really wouldn't worry about this. It's not really a thing in Spain and is tremendously unlikely.

Spain isn’t even listed here OP.

Go and see your doctor or speak to your health visitor at the clinic. You are probably fine - mosquito bites can be nasty and you need to get it checked out if it's playing on your mind.😊

Yea and Europe isn’t listed on any outbreak lists. Just reports of imported cases I think
