Jordan - Dead Sea - Help!

we are travelling around Jordan and want to spend a few days at the dead sea but all the resorts are super expensive. Does anyone have any suggestions, also what's the deal if you are not in a hotel on the beach do you have to pay to access the dead sea beaches?

Also any info on the Jordan Pass...how long does it take to get it??

Thank you!!

Big stretches of the Dead Sea are off limits to foot traffic, so for what's left you have (1) resort-owned; you have to stay at the resort (2) resort-owned, or other private ownership but you can pay a daily per person fee, starting around 30 JOD which may also give you access to the resort's facilities for the day, eg restaurants, pools, showers, etc. or (3) public access, no fee. If you just want to see the sea and maybe stay an hour, public access may work but if you want to spend the day a day pass probably would be worth the cost.

This might help as a basic (current) overview: https://welcome2jordan.com/dead-sea/

The Jordan Pass is supposed to take 3 business days to be approved but the standard advice is to apply a week in advance.; there are sometimes issues with foreign cards which delay the process, so better give it extra time. It's also possible to pay extra for rush processing.
