Which beach would you recommend for swimming and with kids? We are going for the day and I don’t know which is the better option! Thanks in advance if you know the area. Any tips welcome.

Lulworth cove is much smaller in my opinion bug quieter compared to durdle door which was absolutely rammed when we went.

You pretty much have to park at Lulworth Cove, so can go there for a bit.

But Durdle Door for awe and wonder.

It’s quite a rocky beach and also deep quite quickly irrc at Durdle dor. Lulworth cove gentler

I’d drive to swanage beach myself! Less picturesque but shallow sea, good for swimming, nice sand (if you go to the left hand side as you look at it, near the life guards.)

Look up Kimmeridge bay too

Russell19 · 10/08/2022 18:17

Both, they are really close. Very rocky.

Lulworth Cove or Man o War Bay which is next door to Durdle Door, both much safer than Durdle Door. If your kids are young go to the Cove as there are amenities there, Durdle Door is a huge hike down with nothing on the beach at all and please please if you go down there take all your rubbish back up

Oh thanks all but your advice came too late - we went today! Parked at Lulworth Cove and walked the path to Durdle Door - not too busy (we were VERY early!) and stunning! Lots of swimming and loved it.

We spent a lovely week down there and the best beach for us was Studland Bay.
Lulworth cove looked very rocky/pebbly and the beach was completely gone at high tide.
