Picnics on ferries to EU

Anyone been on a ferry from UK to mainland Europe lately? We are sailing Newcastle to Amsterdam later today and DH is fretting that they would confiscate picnic items like fruit or cold meat this end. We usually take a packed meal to save the extortionate boat prices. Should I resign myself to feeding the DC crisps and plain bread tonight? Or can I take what I like as long as it doesn't leave the boat?

We just sailed from Harwich to The Netherlands and no one checked the contents of the car in either direction. A few cars did get pulled over, but no idea what they were looking for!

Same experience for us. Am assuming you have a cabin so eat there is you are concerned but no sign of any cars checked when we crossed.

Thanks both. Yes we have a cabin. DH is a rule follower but I want to eat fruit and veg! Will pack carefully so no leftovers.
