I'm trying to clarify the rules around flight compensation but I keep reading conflicting advice!
So I basically booked a return flight with Easyjet from an English airport to a Scottish airport. 15 days before the flight, they cancelled the return (but not the outbound). They gave me the option to book onto another return flight home but even though I logged on immediately, all the return flights home with Easyjet were full. I had to book a return home the next morning which meant I needed to extend my stay by one night and pay for an extra night in a hotel.
I submitted an expenses request to Easyjet along with the receipt for the extra night's stay (£90) but it's been rejected because they cancelled the flight and gave me 15 days notice. From what I can work out, I am not entitled to compensation (I'm fine with that) but the rules seem to indicate that if they can't get me home, they should still reimburse my reasonable accommodation costs?
Does anyone have any experience of this? Is it worth re-submitting?
