Whilst In a cafe overheard a group talking about holidays. One of them mentioned going to a resort in Austria, they've been going for years bar Covid and the kids love it. Anyone know of any to recommend. A name was mentioned but I didn't catch it. I should have just asked come to think of it now.

i once stayed at one of these hotels and it was a wonderful stay.

amazing facilities for children inside and outside the hotel, delicious food, stunning scenery.

Can be pricey but i thought it was worth every penny.

www.loewebaer.com/en/Loewe-Baer We’ve stayed here in the Summer and it was lovely. Again it’s pricey but I love the mountains in the Summer.

We stop off in Velden Am Wörthersee on our way to Italy. That's a holiday resort in Carinthia. It's really nice although we only have brunch there.

The Austrian Lake District is stunning (Salzkammergut), just outside Salzburg. Wolfgangsee is a lively little resort on the lake. We stayed at Fuschl, a smaller, quieter village nearby on its own lake. There is also St Gilgen. It’s well worth spending a day in Salzburg, particularly if you liked The Sound of Music, where some scenes were filmed. The wedding was filmed in the church at Mondsee. The opening scene was filmed on a mountain above Fuschl.

Hallstadt is stunning - you may well have seen it on jigsaws, as it’s picture postcard pretty. We’ve only been for the day there, so don’t know what it’s like to stay.

There is also the Tirol, near Innsbruck. We stayed at Mayrhofen, a lively little town. There are plenty of sights in the area. However most villages we’ve seen are very pretty!

Inghams has a sale on at the moment for resorts in Austria, say from July 9th, or 16th; and September. Some of the half board deals are particularly good value.

I wouldn’t say Austrian villages are the places to go for nightclubbing; but so long as they are in the mountains, it’s all one picture postcard, with good, rustic restaurants and bars! Some Germans told us Austria was better for children than Switzerland!

We stayed in a Sport hotel in Mayrhofen - our children loved the sports facilities, especially pit pat (a cross between billiards and crazy golf)!

Kitzbuhel is fantastic!

@JohannSebastianBach where in Italy are you going and which way do you drive for that to be en route? Just being nosey as we also often drive to Italy.

Going to Grado in Italy. We go past Salzburg and Klagenfurt. It's all to avoid the Brenner Pass which is insanely busy.
We did go to Garda once on the Brenner. It was beautiful but mad!

Thanks you everyone - lots to look up. Whichever it is they said they go every year for 2 weeks and sounded all inclusive. Will take a look at those mentioned here.
