Hi
Who is best to do this? Into Sydney out of Brisbane possibly a stopover/maybe internal flight too.

I have used a Trailfinders in the past. Are they still good?

Thanks.

Pre covid, we booked a return direct with the airline, into Sydney, out of Melbourne. It was the same price as a Sydney return.

We then booked internal flights with Australian low cost airlines (Tiger and Jetstar from memory), and accommodation with booking.com.

It was a fabulous holiday. We went Sydney, Cairns then hire car to Port Duglass, Uluru, Melbourne. Sounds like you've got some other places in mind!

I always book direct with the airlines. Much easier to resolve any issues/changes etc if you've booked direct.

Hi thanks both. It’s just tricky as it seems a lot cheaper to mix and match as per Skyscanner! We’re visiting family so it has to be those cities.

You're better off using Google Flights instead of Skyscanner. Skyscanner's reputation isn't so good these days. Then book direct with the airlines if you can.

My next trip to Aus I booked direct with BA (but flying with Qatar) to Sydney and then direct with Qatar to fly back from Adelaide. I booked internal flights with Qantalink direct (to Hobart, Kangaroo Island and Adelaide). I fly OneWorld as I have status so I get lounge access, fast track security, priority bags etc. I haven't used a travel agent to book flights since last century!

Just be careful with your luggage allowance as the internal flights may not give you as much as you will get on the in/out international legs. You could try doing a multi trip booking with Qantas but it probably wouldn’t be the cheapest. We fell foul of the luggage thing on a trip from Aus to various European countries a few years back so had to rethink our packing.

Yes very good point! We’re now thinking of driving Sydney to Brisbane but yes, especially as it’s Christmas and we’ll have presents! @Flatandhappy
