Granddaughters passport
MylaRose22 · 04/05/2022 12:51
Hi
My family are going abroad the 29th May my granddaughters passport has gone to Durham! My daughter has to pay £77 to get it shipped back to Liverpool I don't understand why it went all the way to Durham when the passport office is in Liverpool where we live my daughter is at her wits ends what can we do about this
Thank you

Applications are equally allocated between the offices, home address is irrelevant.

There are lots of passport offices. Just because you live in a certain area doesn't mean a passport application will go to the nearest passport office. It goes wherever the application tells you to send it.
dementedpixie · 04/05/2022 12:56
And how long ago was the application done and by what method?
Maydaysoonenough · 04/05/2022 12:57
Can you allocate someone to collect it for you and post it recorded delivery?
Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 04/05/2022 12:58
Why did she pay to have it sent from the Durham passport office to the Liverpool passport?
GiltEdges · 04/05/2022 13:04
Presumably she's upgrading to fast track, which accounts for the additional cost, not the shipping of the passport itself?

i think the reason it went to Durham is that often the forms are sent all around the UK and the envelope they give you just has a random office printed on it
In regards to urgent passport services it states online: urgent passport services are available to individuals who want to renew a passport quickly, we highly recommend this service for applicants who are planning to travel within the next 4 weeks as standard times for the postal service are 3-5 weeks with no guarantee.
So the normal service during normal times is 3-5 weeks, so should always do fast track i guess, more info about it here: www.passports-office.co.uk/emergency_passports.asp
