London/legoland Windsor

Considering a short break for DS birthday or Halloween half term.

Has anyone combined London/legoland?
We are thinking Natural History Museum, maybe a show and then get the train out to Legoland. Probably throw in a few things for me and DH too.

Not so worried about staying in London, but the prices for Legoland accom seem extremely expensive… and confusing add ons such as queue priority and drinks refills?!

It seems that staying in a Legoland hotel doesn’t actually give you any longer in the park than visitors who stay off-site, so if I were you I’d stay somewhere cheaper nearby, and use the money you’d save to buy Reserve and Ride (like a Fastpass).
My DSis is doing this for my nephew in the summer. She’s going to hide some Lego themed balloons, new Lego pyjamas and a small Lego gift in her suitcase to make it a bit more special.

I took my daughter to legoland last year and we stayed in a holiday inn about 10 mins away, cost about £60 inc breakfast and it was a decent hotel for what we needed and had a pool too. Kids got a little goody bag at check in with a puzzle book, chocolate and a voucher for hot chocolate in the bar.
