Suggestions for special holiday next April

I am looking for ideas for where to go next April. I had been planning on Sri Lanka but have seen a lot about the current unrest and shortages there which has made me want to consider other options.
Ideally we want to go for 1-2 weeks, 2 adults only and involve sometime at the beach.
Any ideas?

Hmm I’ve not been keen on holiday destinations with a lot of Americans before.
Budget is probably 10-15k

I would look on travel sites like Conde Nast, Wanderlust, or Suitcase. They always do articles on ‘top ten places to visit in Spring’ or ‘where’s good in April’ and similar, with reasons why.

Has anyone been to Zimbabwe in spring? I’m really keen to go but I’m aware its not high season

I went to Zimbabwe in June, and it was really wonderful and we saw so much - however, we definitely benefited from the rains being quite poor that year, so the environment being unseasonably dry that early. April is right at the start of the 'shoulder' season so your chances of great game viewing is not as good as in June or peak, but with wildlife it is never a guarantee even in September and it depends how big of a priority it is for you. You are more likely to get a very good deal that time of year which is a bonus. I recommend African Bush Camps lodges, I stayed with them and it was a wonderful experience.

When I saw April my first thought was Japan for the cherry blossom. However, bear in mind that means things are more expensive and crowded, and this might be exacerbated by Japan having been closed for tourism since the start of the pandemic and still not open, so there might be unusually high numbers next year (even for April) as we are entering the third year of closure. But this might not be an issue for you.

I went to Mauritius in October to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary.

It was amazing. Lovely beach resort. Excellent service. Gorgeous food.

I really recommend it.
