COVID Testing 3-5 days after arriving in US

We are travelling to California at Easter so my 11 year who we couldn’t get vaccinated needs to do a COVID test 3-5 days after arrival. Does anyone have any experience of doing this and where you do a test/how to register a result please as we are really struggling to find an answer

Thank you

He will need to do a pre departure COVID test the day before departure. This applies to all travelers to the US regardless of vaccination status.

We are aware and prepared for the pre departure tests for all of us, however the gvt website says non vaccinated under 12’s also need to test again 3-5 days after arrival, that’s the one I am asking for info on. Thank you

From what I've read elsewhere I don't think anyone actually checks whether you've done it and you don't have to register it anywhere, it's kind of an 'I promise I will' situation. I'm going to take a few LFTs with me and have dd do one of those.

As far as I'm aware the day 3 test isn't mandatory I am pretty sure you can take your own LFT and do it yourself without having to go to an actual testing centre over there

Thank you both, that’s the conclusion we’re coming to too

We are in a similar boat, one partially vaccinated teen and one non vaccinated. It looks like you have to sign to say you will test, but there is no where I can find that says you have to report it
