City break in July

We're not having a family holiday this year but would like to do a city break, early July, not Amsterdam or Paris. Us and two DDs aged 20 and 17. Somewhere with plenty to do, restaurants, etc and not too hot! Looked at Copenhagen but flights very £££. Would love any other suggestions please.

What about Berlin?

Elderflower14 · 20/03/2022 21:42

Vienna is lovely.. Lots to do!

ImInStealthMode · 20/03/2022 21:52

Palma? Fantastic city and you could still get a bit of beach time too if you wanted to?

FlorhamPark · 20/03/2022 22:15

Berlin or Budapest would be my choices - my late teens loved the baths in Budapest and eating out was cheap and cheerful.

Taormina in Sicily. Not sure about the heat but it's dramatically on the coast and has a lovely bustling late evening vibe. We stayed at a wonderful split level hotel with a restaurant and pool right by the ocean.

Lisbon or Prague

Thank you some great ideas going to look for flights first and then decide. First holiday since 2018 so looking forward to it!

Barcelona, Malaga, Rome

We did a week in Oslo. It was amazing. Shortish flight, great weather - swimming in the sea weather. Lots to do.

Letsshop · 21/03/2022 06:45

Munich, but it can get warm in the summer but plenty to do

ivykaty44 · 21/03/2022 06:57

Rome would be hot and I guess Budapest would have similar temperatures in July, they would have been my suggestions

I’d head for northern cities to try and stay out of the heat, but Oslo will not be any cheaper than Copenhagen

Belgium would be cooler so there touristy cities, but not so much to do. Brussels has some great sights and swimming complex

MinnieMountain · 21/03/2022 07:06

Munich. There’s lots to do. You can do a day trip to the mountains too.

Very hot in summer but lots of fountains/swimming pools/baths.

MissAmbrosia · 21/03/2022 11:06

I really adored Athens. So much history and such an elegant city! Also excellent dining facilities.
