Canadian Thanksgiving, does everything shut down?

We're going to Toronto in the first two weeks of October for a fortnights holiday.
I've just noticed that Canadian Thanksgiving is in October, the 2nd Monday of the month.

Doeseverything shut down on Thanksgiving? will all the shops, restaurants, attractions close down for the day? Or will some places be open?

Not sure about Canada but in the US, some things are still open. On Thanksgiving day, most shops will be closed (although some open in the morning) but things like the zoo and restaurants remain open. The day after thanksgiving is the biggest shopping day of the year and shops often open at 4am.

Well here is the States - Government offices shut, not sure about attractions. Restaurants - most open and offer special meals. Would you like me to ask my friend in Canada for you?
