Summer camps in NYC

I know that this is a bit niche, but I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for two children between 5 and 10? Better if in the middle of the city.

I saw this: www.chelseapiersct.com/summer-camp/2022/ninja-parkour-camp/ which would be perfect but is too far from where I will be working, and this: momath.org/transformations/, which could work, however something in the open air and with some physical activity would be best.

Also, is there a way of checking whether they are organised by random people or by vetted ones, something like Ofsted approved?

Thank you!

You should look for American Camp Association accreditation on summer camp programs. They also have a search facility which might help you find something.

However, remember that most parents send their children out of the city to camp in the summer. There are literally hundreds of camps within two and a half hours of Manhattan, both day and overnight. Your youngest is too old for sleepaway camp yet but 10 is the perfect age to start. Not sure if that’s something you would consider?

Both my kids are going to camp in Pennsylvania this summer - they can’t wait!!!!

Just had a quick look if you search day camps in NY state, there are a few in the city itself and a few further out that run a bus from Manhattan, Hoboken etc.

The YMCA does summer camps: ymcanyc.org/programs/camp

Agree with PP that most people send their kids to sleepaway or day camp out of the City. I know Mt Tom is a popular one (DH went there as a child). www.mounttomdaycamp.com/
