Where have you visited with your children, that was Free Admission?

I'll start the list off with:

Royal Armouries - Fort Nelson, Fareham
Free admission and children's activities during school holidays.

we were lucky to see how they turn grain into flour.. it was nice to look from the inside the windmill..but i have to admit the site is rather small.

Liverpool Museum, with wonderful aquarium.

Walker Art Gallery, next door to the Museum and kids liked it even more! Lovely friendly staff and dressing up/colouring activities.

Maritime museum, down on the docks near to Tate Art gallery.

Viva Liverpool.

DS (4YO)'s favourite in Leicester area is the Abbey Pumping Station next to the National Space Centre. Great collection of steam powered pumps and engines in a superb old Victorian pumping house. He loved the pull-along tram and we had to drag him away from the working model display of flushing toilet and drains(!!!)

In London, many museums are free these days. Classic favourites are the Natural History Museum and Science Museum...though both get v busy at times, especially at weekends and holidays.

To find lots of other free places to take kids in the UK, try searching on IdeasForTheKids. If you go to the search page, you can search by area and filter on cost...including free places.

Have fun!

Just looked at Ideas for the Kids - really easy to use and tons of stuff on there. Also take a look at www.greatlittleadventures.co.uk - they have loads of cheap / free things to do around the country. Loads of museums - even the big ones in London such as the Science Museum, Natural History Museum, Tate Modern - are now free.

Glasgow Museums
Lots of free museums to appeal to all ages, Kelvingrove and the Transport Museum are our favourites. Most of them have actvity sheets and other stuff for kids, I think they do activities in the holidays too.
