Amsterdam recommendations?

Have three nights booked in Amsterdam for May. Staying very close to Dam Square, hotel is the Port van Cleve. Looking for recommendations of things to see and do.

Neither DH and I particularly interested in drugs or the red light district. Only thing we both really want to do is the Anne Frank House.

Have just googled. That is a thing of nightmares.

Den Waag restaurant on the Nieuwmarkt is pretty fab. It's an old gatehouse which is now a restaurant lit by candles. Another place is the Begijnhof - enclosed courtyard near den spui. Oh, and rent bikes if you can... it's the best way to get around!

The Rijksmuseum is world class.

Jordaan is a very interesting area. Lots of boutique shops and cafes.

De Oude Kirk is Amsterdam’s oldest building. Well worth a visit.

EYE museum. Stunning building. Also try Rembrandt House Museum.

I find Lonely Planet Guides invaluable. I can read up about what might interest me before I go and eliminate some things but add in others I didn’t know existed! They also give you ideas for itineraries. I personally found the city more interesting than the windmills!
