Where are you booking for Spring / Summer? Especially with teens

Wondering about Covid passes when they expire and how all that works

Where are you planning to go and will it just be easy by then if passes run out

We're not! Kids have not managed to have either vaccine yet - they were ill when the first round at school was on, then DS refused and then they had COVID, so we're currently waiting for the 90 days after they fell ill, hoping they don't get it again yet.

UK only until October.

Ylvamoon · 23/01/2022 13:22

We're very optimistic and have booked a week in France in August.

But then, we are also meeting up with family who live out there.

My mantra for now is, things have to improve, as tourism is on it's knees. I really don’t think top tourist destinations can have an other year with heavily reduced income...

Oblomov22 · 23/01/2022 15:11

Just booked week all inclusive Easter, NE Majorca. Incredibly cheap. Oldest Teen ds's will have covid pass, youngest teen covid letter:

"Fully vaccinated 12 to 15 year olds are now able to access a NHS COVID Pass letter for international travel."

@Oblomov22 who are you booking with for cheap hols? I’ve had a look & prices seem to have shot up (even for already inflated school hols prices) I do understand they need to claw some money back but it’s making some hols £££

tootyfruitypickle · 23/01/2022 15:20

I've got the dog booked in for a week in august so that's one challenge completed, and dd (13) has had one jab. So just need her to get second and I need to organise myself a new passport. By the time I think we might go abroad there will be nothing left that's affordable I reckon!

We're mainly interested in a city break, so that will probably be Berlin. Was going to get a package for safety but I think by the time I decide to go ahead it might be easier to book flights and hotel separately as I think package prices have rocketed .

Or we will just do some Uk day trips maybe an Airbnb on coast if any available .

My teen will be 18 and already has her booster. She wants to go interrailing for 3 weeks with a friend but is not sure yet exactly when and only hope it will be possible by July. I am now thinking of leaving her at home and doing a week late May - maybe the South of France. We can get the train. I'm still thinking on the rest of the summer/autumn as I want to have a better view on when she will be away/Uni start dates etc. I am planning a girly weekend with friends in May or June - Valencia or Madrid are currently top of the list.

MarshaBradyo · 23/01/2022 15:58

We have Covid passes for travel but they have a Feb expiry date

Not sure what happens after that

Actually maybe it’s just the barcode that expires and you can get a new one

As long as there is t some 6 month expiry then it’s fine

How does this response help the OP? She asked for those who ARE going away...
wiltonian · 23/01/2022 16:33

We're going on a city break to Scandinavia at Easter, but as long as everyone is over 12 most of Europe does - currently - seem very accessible.

lumpofcomfort · 23/01/2022 18:47

Booked France for end of July/August. DC isn't 12 until March so hoping will be able to get both her vaccines done before we go.

MarshaBradyo · 23/01/2022 19:18

Reading around it looks like some countries expire after 6 months for adults but booster is ok

I hope that double vaccination doesn’t expire in same way for teens

BaconAndAvocado · 23/01/2022 19:24

Florida!
We were meant to go on our third trip in 2020......
Can't wait 🙂

BaconAndAvocado · 23/01/2022 19:26

Regarding vaccinations, both 13 and 15 yo DCs are single vaxed.
Just waiting to hear about second.
Although, for entry into the US (currently) DCs do not need to be vaxed if parents are.

CatFreckles · 23/01/2022 19:35

We’re hoping to go to Spain - so either we need Spain to change their rules or dc to get their second vax

@Oblomov22 can you please clarify if your teens are double vaxxed? My understanding was that Spain does not accept recovery notes for teens any more

Ajl46 · 23/01/2022 19:44

Margate! Not confident enough that things will be sufficiently back to normal by summer to try abroad.

Hoppinggreen · 23/01/2022 20:01

Both DC double vaxed
Off to Northumbria with friends at Easter, big group of us in a house on the beach for a week then just the 4 of us off to Germany in August. Staying in a house in rural Bavaria near an outdoor swimming pool and a 15 minute train ride from Munich.

Neurodiversitydoctor · 23/01/2022 20:08

We have booked a villa in Leftekas for the end of August. DCs are 15 and 18.

Oblomov22 · 23/01/2022 20:48

Yes Freckles they are, I'm sorry I don't know what a 'recovery note' is, I'll need to look it up.

MissAmbrosia · 24/01/2022 21:59

Just booked a weekend in Madrid for June. Who know what Covid will be doing by then. I don't care about mask wearing or covid pass but hoping we won't have to do extra testing. I am travelling within EU, so it HAS been slightly easier in the past, not so much recently.
