Amazing place to have dinner in Venice

If you were going to Venice and someone else was paying, unlimited budget, where would you choose to have dinner?

And other suggestions of things to do, outside the usual tourist stuff.

Cipriani - we ate in the restaurant part which is on the canal, not actually in the hotel.

The Danielli was lovely too, outside up high on the big balcony overlooking the Grand Canal.

My favourite place is Trattoria Alla Maddelena but it's on Mazzorbo.

My suggestions for visiting -

• explore the other less-visited islands esp. Torcello
• go on a tour of the Jewish quarter (you need a guide) as it's amazing

Day trip to Padua (if you are staying for a while) to see the Scrovegni Chapel.

We ate at small trattoria mainly and most were divine.

The Black Cat on Burano

My suggestions would be:

Riva Rosa on Burano - have the risotto di go
Corte Sconta in Canareggio
Go on a cichetti tour
Go to Torcello

Do not eat anywhere in San Marco, or have pizza

My tip would be to get a private water taxi from the airport - you'll never forget the moment you turn into the Grand Canal and see the Canaletto Venice scene in front of you.
