Easter hols: UK or Canaries or Cyprus?

Hello!

We are in the very fortunate position to have 9 days booked off work at Easter and a bit of money to go somewhere on holiday. Youngest child is age 3, eldest is 10.

Not sure if it’s worth risking being stuck isolating abroad if we fly somewhere or not. And if we do not sure if the canaries would be better or Cyprus.

Or we could just go to a caravan park in the uk.

We would like to do swimming, play on a beach (it’s ok if it’s too cold to swim in the sea or in an outdoor pool if there is an indoor option) and nice food & wine.

I just can’t decide. First world problems I know!!

I’d opt for canaries! Similar flight time to Cyprus and I think the weather is normally a bit warmer in the canaries that time of year.

Thank you! I had a look and it seems Cyprus is an average of 22 degrees while Tenerife is 23 so not too different. Just a bit worried about being stuck with covid. We haven’t been abroad since 2019…

Oh ok not much difference then. I love Cyprus! We went to Lanzarote in 2020 that was lovely,
I’d feel the same & still get a bit anxious about it but I’ve been abroad in both 2020 & 2021 and both were so lovely. Maybe book a flexible package etc in case you needed to change anything or cancel before going?
I don’t think you have to test to come back to the uk now (depending on vaccinations/ eligibility maybe) so hopefully that would take away some of the worry.

I went to Cyprus once at Easter and the weather was mixed, some days nice and sunny but some were colder and wet. Weather is likely to be more consistent and drier in the canaries. I’ve really enjoyed Lanzarote when I’ve been. I’d definitely go for the canaries over a uk break.

Another vote for the Canaries. Much more likely to have dry weather and if you get a good day you may be able to swim in the sea.

Or you could also consider Cape Verde which is a bit further but warmer than Canaries, but not that expensive usually.

Not many pools in Cyprus are heated.

Thanks all! I bit the bullet and booked Tenerife! It’s costing a fortune and I hope there is enough to do at the hotel (there’s a heated pool, splash pool, play area and kids club) but hopefully it will be worth it.

I have bought top notch insurance as I’m pretty sure we may well not be able to go thanks to covid!

We went to Tenerife in November. It was hot, not just warm - I was surprised to be in a bikini on the beach. It was lovely as could play on the beach which is normally too hot in the summer - we had DD who is 3 with us and she had a great time. Needed a light jumper for the evenings but was otherwise lovely.
