DH and I will be celebrating both our 40th birthday and 10th wedding anniversary next year and would love a 2 week luxury holiday somewhere in the Caribbean in the spring.

DH has some dietary requirements so all inclusive which includes room service and a variety of restaurants is a must - he doesn’t always do well with ‘fine dining’

I like the idea of a resort where there is plenty to do - if we want to - but adults only as it will just be the 2 of us. Thinking spa, sports facilities but also not somewhere we struggle to get space on the beach or around the pool.

We have a sizeable budget for the occasion after a rough few years so money not really an object. We have a load of vouchers which will cover our flights so budget for hotel could be up to £700-900 per night if all inclusive.

Please let me know your personal recommendations!!!

Have a look at Couples Swept Away in Jamaica. It's on the beach in Negril has loads of restaurant options and a bit of a sporty vibe - DH and I did our PADI open water scuba qualification there. I would say try to avoid any big American holidays if you want a more relaxed time - we were there over thanksgiving and it got a bit busy loud around the main pool at times due to the swim up bar but there were other quieter pools too.

Years ago I stayed at Couples Ocho Rios Tower Isle, Jamaica.

The food was amazing, plenty of activities to do, plus a nudist island which was used daily.

We went to sandals in the Bahamas for our honeymoon, admittedly 20+ years ago but it was a shithole and not the luxury holiday we’d been sold at all. Flew home after 5 nights and got half the cost refunded with no argument from the travel agent.

No idea what it’s like these days but at the time we were told the holidays are marketed in very different ways in the US and UK. It felt more like the US holidaymakers were on a club 18-30 holiday.

Could be absolutely amazing now but I’d be cautious.

Oh thank you, def worth reading those trip advisor reviews then. The thought of spending all that money and then ending up not liking the resort or the vibe… 😫

We went to Secreta Maroma in Mexico a couple of years ago, divine and very couples orientated (adults only hotel). And from memory I remember seeing a lot of menu sections for DF, GF, Ve etc. Beach is beautiful (I believe “the best in Mexico”) and never struggled for a space.
I need stuff going on at a hotel or I get bored and there was plenty to do there without it ruining the relaxing luxury feel.
Also if money really isn’t a concern look at Turks & Caicos, there’s some awesome looking hotels on Grace bay beach (which tripadvisor often votes best in the world). We went when I was a teenager before prices shot up, and it was gorgeous!

I would thoroughly recommend the Iberostar Grand resorts.
Adults only and absolutely phenomenal.
We've been to the grand hotels in Mexico and Dominican and rate them head and shoulders above Couples and even Sandals for food, resort and room quality.

It's not cheap but defo worth it!

I went to Sandals in Grenada a few years back. Hotel was fab and food and drink was excellent. During the day I had a great time but it was boring in the evening. No real atmosphere in the bar, but that said we were there in January do it was a quieter time.
