Mosquito net in Southern India - do we need them?

Just jumping across from the conception thread.

Can someone tell me if they have used mosquito nets in southern India? We are going to be on malaria tablets (the mildest ones) but I can't decide whether to take a net or not. We are going to Tamil Nadu and Kerala on the 29th Dec.

Any advice?

Well, I was always told that avoiding being bitten by mozzies is much better than relying on drugs alone...

Also, nets keep out other creepy crawlies such as spiders and scorpions . And they don't take up very much space in your luggage...

i'd take one too - it's not like they take up a lot of room and you dont have to use it.

Kerala has a lot of inland water which is just what mozzies like!

Have fun, how wonderful. I have a couple of friends in southern india this xmas and i'm pretty jealous!

Thanks, I really thought we would not be able to go as I would be pregnant by now (HA!) but after nearly 2 yrs TTC and 1 mc to our names we are just going for it. Been to India before and loved it, never been to the south though
